Our H2 clusters

Regional clusters as H2 potential regions.

Preparations for a hydrogen market ramp-up are gaining momentum - in Europe, in Germany and especially in our grid area. Based on market surveys and in close dialogue with customers and local market participants, we have initially identified six regional hydrogen clusters between Emsland, Münsterland, the Ruhr region and the Rhineland.

We believe that these key regions are particularly suitable as nuclei for initiating the development towards an integrated H2 infrastructure. With our Thyssengas H2 network, we are ensuring that the import routes, production sites, storage facilities and consumers planned as part of various sub-projects are connected with each other.

Northern Hesse

The demand for hydrogen in the north of Hesse will increase significantly from the mid-2030s. Medium-sized companies and distribution grid operators in northern Hesse in particular need a perspective on their path to climate neutrality.

Cologne

Many well-known chemical and industrial companies are based in the greater Cologne area. They all have high energy requirements and therefore a large potential for CO2 savings.

Ruhr area

Thyssengas is a child of the Ruhr region. We were founded here more than 100 years ago. This is where most of our pipelines are located. This is where we are at home.

Bentheim-Westmünsterland

In the Bentheim-Westmünsterland cluster, in addition to supplying SMEs and distribution network operators, our planning focuses in particular on the high-capacity import pipelines for hydrogen.

Muenster-Hamm

The Westphalia region is home to many industrial and medium-sized companies. They are looking for ways to make their gas- or in some cases coal- or oil-based production processes climate-neutral with the help of hydrogen.
