Enable change

We are undergoing a transformation in order to enable change. This means that not only are we pursuing sustainability in our own company, but with our own change we would also like to contribute to the transformation of entire sectors of the economy. For us, "enable change" means not only making a contribution to the energy transition in the industrial base of North Rhine-Westphalia, but also being a committed advocate for issues that go beyond our core business. Who better to report on this than those who are responsible for it in our company? On this page you will find some specific examples.

Strategic market development

We go where there is demand - to the many small and medium-sized businesses and municipal utilities. In 2023, in around 180 individual meetings, we determined the H2 requirements of potential customers who could be connected to the grid. We spoke with around 20 stakeholders to explore the possibility of expanding the grid. In webcasts, we informed around 400 existing and potential grid customers about our plans. Moreover, we have already signed letters of intent with around 50 companies regarding a connection to our future H2 pipeline grid.

Thyssengas Dialogue

In the middle of 2024, we extended an invitation to the third Thyssengas Dialogue, a policy dialogue event, where the topic was: "North Rhine Westphalia is ready for the H2 ramp-up - the excavators must now get rolling". Apart from representatives from the world of politics, our guests in Dortmund also included stakeholders from the entire H2 value chain. They all gathered to discuss the current status and the next steps on the pathway to the hydrogen economy. The event was also a manifestation of the rapid development of this issue. Just two years earlier, in our first Dialogue, we posed the fundamental question of how a rapid hydrogen ramp-up could be achieved.

Deutschlandstipendium Scholarship

Since 2024, through the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship, we have been sponsoring students at three universities in the region and, moreover, also providing a comprehensive supporting programme for them. We sponsor students who are taking courses of study with a particular focus on sustainability, or innovative courses, such as:

The Deutschlandstipendium offers us the ideal opportunity to intensify our dialogue with academia and to support committed students who will shape the future of the world of energy.

Enhance what already exists
We are keeping our attention focused on the present because there are ways in which we can enhance our existing business.
Dare to try something new
The shift away from natural gas to green gases, spearheaded by hydrogen, is the opportunity of the century.
