The demand for hydrogen in the north of Hesse will increase significantly from the mid-2030s - this is one conclusion from the first Germany-wide, integrated market survey on the development of demand for electricity, natural gas and hydrogen in 2024. Medium-sized companies and distribution system operators (DSOs) in northern Hesse in particular need a perspective on their path to climate neutrality. With its power plants, the Kassel region offers particularly great potential for the decarbonisation of district heating and the provision of process energy for industrial companies.
Our Werne-Eisenach pipeline project is the centrepiece of the northern Hesse cluster and creates the ideal conditions for bringing hydrogen to the region and supplying the local grid operators. To this end, we are already in close dialogue with the local DSOs and transmission system operator terranets BW and are developing sustainable network concepts that can bring hydrogen to the region.
