Read moreThyssengas is deeply rooted in the Ruhr region – this is where our history began over 100 years ago. In this region we have always been a reliable partner for large industries as well as for small and medium-sized businesses. Our high-performance transmission grid forms the backbone of the efficient, safe and reliable energy infrastructure for our region.
At present, we supply municipal utilities, industrial plants and power stations with around six billion cubic metres of natural gas per year. At the same time, we are undergoing the biggest transformation in our company's history. While natural gas is still flowing through our pipelines, in the future, this will however mainly be green gases, such as, hydrogen and biogas.
Hydrogen
We are bringing H2 to the region
Hydrogen is a key energy source of the future. It can help make the energy supply more secure, resilient, and climate-friendly. However, this requires a high-performance infrastructure that reliably enables H2 transport. Our transmission grid offers ideal conditions for this: located throughout western Germany, near industrial and power plant sites, and connected to European generation and import corridors.
Biomethane
Our focus is on green gases
Besides hydrogen, there are other gaseous molecules that will also form a key part of energy supply security in the future. That is why we are focussing on a variety of green gases and are increasingly feeding biogas into our pipeline grid. We believe that biogas can make a valuable contribution to climate protection and the security of supply.

We guarantee energy supply security
Natural gas is an important part of a stable energy system today. As a transmission system operator, we reliably transport it to municipal utilities, industry, power plants, and local governments. At the same time, we continue to develop our grid so that it will continue to meet the needs of our customers and regions in the future.

As we transition to hydrogen and other green gases, sustainability is gradually becoming the focus of our business model. The process of transforming our business is simultaneously contributing towards the transformation of entire sectors of the economy. Our vision of sustainability is a holistic one that combines corporate responsibility at the environmental, economic and social levels.
