Thyssengas is a child of the Ruhr region. We were founded here more than 100 years ago. This is where most of our pipelines are located. This is where we are at home. We have always been a partner to industry and SMEs by ensuring a reliable energy supply via our long-distance pipeline network. So it's no wonder that we see the Ruhr region as a focal point for the dawn of the hydrogen age and want to create the necessary infrastructure for this with our Thyssengas H2 network.
The chemical and industrial sites in Marl, Bottrop, Gelsenkirchen, Herne and Bochum are the initial focus due to the current demand reports. In addition, the Ruhr region, with its supra-regional district heating networks, has the potential to convert a large part of the heat supply centrally to hydrogen. This is complemented by the existing power plant sites, which offer potential areas forCO2-free hydrogen power plants and electrolysers due to existing infrastructures.
We will provide the necessary hydrogen by connecting the Ruhr Area cluster to the Zevenaar border crossing point (Netherlands), the GET H2 cluster and the planned north-south corridor between Wilhelmshaven and Cologne.
