Our hydrogen projects
Thyssengas is engaged in numerous initiatives in the hydrogen field. This includes, among others:
GET H2 and GET H2 Nukleus IPCEI
Thyssengas is a supporting partner. The initiative wants to establish a countrywide hydrogen infrastructure, making the efficient implementation of the energy transition possible. The initiative is backed by companies and institutions that are actively involved in the creation of a competition-oriented hydrogen market and the promotion of the necessary adjustments to the legal and regulatory principles. Through several different projects, the partners are driving forward the development of new technologies and their market launch, while also planning the creation of infrastructure for the production, purchase, transport and storage of green hydrogen (H2).
H2morrow steel intends to create the conditions for supplying Germany’s largest steel manufacturer, thyssenkrupp Steel in Duisburg, with blue hydrogen. This would allow near-climate-neutral steel production over the short and medium term. The initiators and partners in the project are Equinor, a broad-based energy company headquartered in Norway, the gas transmission system operator OGE and thyssenkrupp Steel Europe. Standing alongside OGE, Thyssengas is supplying its expertise in the field of transmission, supplementing project-related hydrogen infrastructure planning in the relevant regions of the Ruhr.
NRW, a central platform for the implementation of climate-neutral industry, not only wants to accelerate the industrial transformation of North Rhine-Westphalia. At the same time, the initiative is agitating for the creation of the appropriate infrastructure and underlying conditions to allow climate-neutral industry to arise. To shape this change process together with companies, the Ministry for the Economy, Innovation, Digitalisation and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia has initiated the IN4climate.NRW project.
