The dialogue market kicked off on 8 May in Coesfeld. This was followed by events in Dorsten (22 May), Emsbüren (27 May) and Wettringen (28 May). Numerous citizens and representatives from politics, administration and business took the opportunity to obtain first-hand information about the project planning.
At several themed islands, visitors were able to engage in direct dialogue with experts from various specialist areas: from current corridor planning, questions about pipeline construction or nature and environmental protection to the approval process. At the same time, they had the opportunity to pass on information on local conditions or personal concerns directly to the project team.
"We are deliberately focussing on an early exchange with the public in order to create transparency about the planning steps and take on board comments from the regions. The feedback from the dialogue markets is of great value for further planning," explains Hubert Jesolowitz, head of the Emsbüren-Dorsten hydrogen project. "We were very pleased with the open and constructive dialogue."
The dialogue markets are part of the early public participation with which Thyssengas aims to create transparency and an opportunity for personal exchange. Thyssengas will continue to inform local authorities and engage in dialogue with the public in the coming phases of the project.
The Emsbüren-Dorsten H2 pipeline project is a central section of the so-called north-south corridor, via which climate-friendly hydrogen is to be transported from near the coast to the Ruhr region in the future. With the planned pipeline section, Thyssengas is making an important contribution to the implementation of the National Hydrogen Strategy.
