Westnetz and Thyssengas renew gas pipelines in Recklinghausen

The work by Thyssengas and Westnetz in the area of the bridge on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße is progressing. Since the beginning of October, the existing gas pipes have been relocated underneath the bridge so that they do not get in the way during the upcoming renovation of the bridge. The two necessary flushing boreholes in the Friedrich-Ebert-Straße area have been completed. Both the Thyssengas high-pressure gas pipeline and the Westnetz low-pressure gas pipeline have already been successfully pulled in. However, the rainy weather over the past few weeks and the condition of the subsoil caused a delay in the construction work, meaning that the remaining work cannot be carried out until next year. The excavation pits will now be provisionally sealed and the construction site area minimised as far as possible. Work is scheduled to resume on 6 January 2025 and the work to tie in the two gas pipes will begin. The work should be completed by the end of March. The changed traffic routing for cycle traffic will remain in place. Both companies ask for your understanding for the delay.
