"With the transition to hydrogen and other green gases, sustainability is gradually moving to the centre of our business model. This requires new structures, clear goals and a growing team of experts with proven and new skills. For this reason, we have further developed our understanding of sustainability this year and redesigned what is now our third sustainability report," say Managing Directors Dr Thomas Gößmann and Dr Thomas Becker in the foreword to the new report, which is entitled "Thinking tomorrow - We are changing to enable change".
In this year's report, the company focuses, among other things, on its efforts to record and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Employees from various areas of the company vividly describe how a significant reduction in emissions has been achieved since the first reporting in 2019.
Thyssengas also describes the transformation of natural gas to green gases, which reached an important milestone just a few days ago with the submission of the joint application by all German transmission system operators to the Federal Network Agency for the realisation of the hydrogen core network.
The company also shows how it is committed to a sustainable future beyond its own corporate boundaries - through its own transformation in its core business, which is intended to help industrial and medium-sized companies meet their energy needs sustainably, as well as through its strong social commitment in the region.
For the first time, the new sustainability report is also available in a two-page abridged version. Both versions can be found on the Thyssengas website.

About Thyssengas
Thyssengas GmbH is a German transmission system operator. The company, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021, is headquartered in Dortmund. Thyssengas operates a gas network around 4,400 kilometres long - mostly in North Rhine-Westphalia, but also with individual pipelines in Lower Saxony. It supplies downstream distribution network operators as well as industrial companies and power plants. Thyssengas is focussing on hydrogen as a gaseous energy source for a climate-neutral future. The Dortmund-based network operator is involved in numerous initiatives to this end. At the same time, it is making targeted investments in the conversion of its pipeline system to enable a rapid hydrogen ramp-up as part of the energy transition. The company currently employs around 520 people at seven locations in the network area, and the number is growing.
