Parallelisation of the Rurtal pipeline: Thyssengas carries out pipeline construction work in the Düren urban area - work begins on the next construction phase in Valencienner Straße

Due to the planned lignite phase-out in the Düren / Aachen region, Thyssengas GmbH will increase the capacity of its existing pipeline in the Rur valley in order to further support the supply of the industries in Niederau, Kreuzau and Untermaubach. The planned route of the new gas pipeline is based on the route of the existing Rurtal pipeline. Thyssengas will now continue the pipeline construction work in the next construction phase from Monday, 24 June 2024.

The transmission system operator Thyssengas is currently carrying out pipeline construction work in Tivolistraße. From Monday, 24 June 2024 until 8 July 2024, the work will continue from Tivolistraße to Valencienner Straße.

Last construction phase on Valencienner Straße

According to the current planning status, Valencienner Straße will initially be closed on one side from Tivolistraße to behind the junction with Mariaweiler Straße for a length of approx. 70 metres from 8 July to 5 August 2024. Traffic can continue to flow in both directions along the construction site during the Annakirmes. In the second section, Valencienner Straße will be closed on one side for approx. 360 metres between the junction of Mariaweilerstraße and Monschauer Straße. Traffic can then continue to flow in the direction of Monschauer Straße along the roadworks (one-way traffic regulation).

The parking lanes at the edge of the carriageway will be closed for the duration of this measure. All local businesses, restaurants, etc. within the construction section described can still be reached. The final traffic routing is still being finalised in consultation with the City of Düren's public order office. According to the current planning status, this work will last until the end of September 2024. The planning and implementation of the measures will be carried out in close coordination with representatives of the city of Düren and the public order office in Düren. Thyssengas asks for your understanding for the resulting inconvenience.

Surface restoration

Following the respective construction phases, the surface will initially be provisionally restored. As the final step in the overall measure, the surface will then be restored over the entire length of the 2.3 kilometres in summer 2024. This construction measure and the associated impact on road traffic will be communicated separately by Thyssengas GmbH in advance.
