Ruhrtal pipeline project: Transmission system operator Thyssengas is carrying out pipeline construction work in the Hauptstraße, Talweg and Rümmecketal areas in Meschede-Freienohl

From Monday, 28 July 2025, the transmission system operator Thyssengas will be carrying out pipeline construction work in a further construction section in the area of Hauptstraße, Talweg and Rümmecketal in Meschede-Freienohl.

From 28 July 2025, the southern lanes (towards Meschede and Talweg) of Hauptstraße will be closed over a length of approx. 100 metres (house numbers 120 to 111a) for a period of approx. five weeks. Traffic will be regulated by mobile traffic lights. During this period, one side of the "Rümmecketal" road will be closed so that it can only be left in the direction of Meschede and travelled on from Meschede. The Talweg can still be accessed.

The northern lane of the main road (towards Oeventrop) will then be closed for approx. four weeks. Traffic can continue to flow via the two southern lanes. During this period, Talweg will be closed up to house number 4. A diversion will be signposted accordingly. Residents will still be able to reach their homes during this period. In the course of the road crossing, cables from other infrastructure operators and the district and university town of Meschede will also be laid.

The planning and implementation of the measures will be carried out in close coordination with the representatives of the district and university town of Meschede and the infrastructure operators. Thyssengas asks for your understanding for the resulting inconvenience. The measure described is related to the Ruhr Valley pipeline project.

About the Ruhrtal pipeline project

Due to increased capacity requirements, Thyssengas GmbH has been expanding its gas transport system in the Wickede / Arnsberg / Meschede region - the so-called Ruhr Valley pipeline - since 2018. The existing pipeline system is being modernised in several construction phases, increasing transport capacity in the process. The Ruhrtal pipeline will supply the downstream networks of the local municipal utilities as well as numerous large consumers such as industrial companies and power plants with gas. The entire project is scheduled for completion in 2026.
