Voerde–Walsum H₂ pipeline: Thyssengas is carrying out tree felling work in Voerde

As part of the planning approval process for the proposed Voerde–Walsum hydrogen pipeline, Thyssengas is currently carrying out preparatory work in Voerde. This includes tree felling work, starting on Monday 2 November 2026, in a limited area along a footpath and cycle path near Rahmstraße in Voerde. The work is being carried out in accordance with the permits granted and in close consultation with the relevant authorities.

The transmission system operator Thyssengas is planning to build a hydrogen pipeline approximately eight kilometres long between Voerde and Duisburg-Walsum. The project is currently undergoing the planning approval process. In connection with the approval process, preparatory work is currently taking place, including surveying and the installation of marker posts. Information on this was already provided in May via a local notice published in the Official Gazette of the City of Voerde. As part of the preparatory work, tree felling will be necessary from 2 November 2026 near Rahmstraße, at the level of the railway bridge along the footpath and cycle path.

Tree felling will be kept to the absolute minimum. The work will be carried out in accordance with the permits granted and in close consultation with the relevant authorities. Thyssengas asks for your understanding regarding any inconvenience caused.

With the planned Voerde–Walsum hydrogen pipeline, Thyssengas is working in the Lower Rhine region to establish a central transport route for the future Germany-wide hydrogen supply. The connection to a central transport corridor from the Netherlands provides the region with significant prospects for the future supply of hydrogen – for industry and small and medium-sized enterprises as well as for distribution network operators. The pipeline is scheduled to come into operation at the end of 2028.
