From Monday, 21.10.2024, the final stage of the Rur valley pipeline parallelisation project will begin. In order to minimise the impact on road traffic, the surface will be restored in several sections.
Parallelisation of the Rurtal pipeline: Thyssengas carries out pipeline construction work in the Düren urban area - final surface restoration work begins
Due to the planned lignite phase-out in the Düren / Aachen region, Thyssengas GmbH will increase the capacity of its existing pipeline in the Rur valley in order to further support the supply of the industries in Niederau, Kreuzau and Untermaubach. The route of the new gas pipeline will follow the course of the existing Rurtal pipeline. The pipe and civil engineering work is now complete. The final work to restore the road surface will now begin.
First section: 21.10.2024 - 24.10.2024 Valencienner- and Aachener Straße
The first construction phase will begin on Monday, 21 October 2024, in the area of Valenciennerstrasse and parts of Aachener Strasse. To this end, the current closure on Valencienner Straße will be maintained during the week. Aachener Straße will be renewed in two parts, similar to the closure situation during the construction phase, in order to guarantee traffic in both directions. The work will take a total of one week.
Second section: 25.10.2024 - 28.10.2024 Tivoli Street
Work will then continue to restore the surface in Tivolistraße. This will begin on Friday, 25 October 2024, and will continue until 28 October 2024 according to the current planning status. Here, too, traffic will be able to continue in one lane.
Third section: 28.10.2024 - 04.11.2024 Aachener Straße Part 2 and Dr.-Overhues-Allee
The construction work will continue in the third construction phase in the area of Aachener Straße and Dr.-Overhues-Allee. As in the first phase, the partial closure of Aachener Straße will be organised so that traffic can continue to flow in both directions. Dr.-Overhues-Allee will be fully closed up to house number 4 in the same way as the construction phase. A diversion will be set up and signposted. Residents will be able to reach their homes on foot.
Fourth section: 04.11.2024 - 13.11.2024 Mariaweilerstrasse
In the final section, the surface on Mariaweilerstrasse will be restored. The reconstruction will be carried out in two sections, each of which will be partially closed. Traffic can continue to flow and will be regulated by traffic lights. According to the current planning status, the partial closure will last approx. one and a half weeks and will be completed on 13 November 2024. This will mark the end of the overall measure to parallelise the existing Rurtal line.
The planning and implementation of the measures will be carried out in close coordination with representatives of the city of Düren and the public order office in Düren. Thyssengas asks for your understanding for the resulting inconvenience.
