Parallelisation of the Rurtal pipeline: Thyssengas carries out pipeline construction work in the Düren urban area - work begins on the next construction phase in Mariaweilerstrasse

Due to the planned lignite phase-out in the Düren / Aachen region, Thyssengas GmbH will increase the capacity of its existing pipeline in the Rur valley in order to further support the supply of the industries in Niederau, Kreuzau and Untermaubach. The planned route of the new gas pipeline is based on the route of the existing Rurtal pipeline. Thyssengas will now continue the pipeline construction work in the next construction phase from Monday, 4 March 2024.

Traffic restrictions in Mariaweilerstrasse

From Monday, 04.03.2024, construction work will begin on the next construction phase in Mariaweilerstraße. The existing full closure of the road between the 1.FC Düren car park and the railway bridge (current construction phase) will remain in place. In addition, from 4 March 2024, the right-hand lane (in the direction of Düren) of Mariaweilerstrasse will be closed on the section starting at the railway bridge and ending at the Tivolistraße junction. This means that the right-hand turning lane onto Tivolistraße will also be closed. A diversion will be set up and signposted accordingly. The work will take around four weeks and, according to current planning, will be completed at the beginning of April.

Surface restoration

Following the respective construction phases, the surface will initially be provisionally restored. As the final step of the overall measure, the surface will then be finally restored along the entire 2.3 kilometre length in summer 2024. This construction measure and the associated impact on road traffic will be communicated separately by Thyssengas GmbH in advance.

The planning and implementation of the measures will be carried out in close coordination with representatives of the city of Düren and the public order office in Düren. Thyssengas GmbH will communicate the construction phases following the measure in good time in further press releases. Thyssengas asks for your understanding for the resulting inconvenience.
