Thyssengas provides information in Xanten on the planned Uedemerbruch–Xanten hydrogen pipeline system

On 7 July, the transmission system operator Thyssengas is hosting a public consultation event on the planned Uedemerbruch–Xanten hydrogen pipeline system. The evening event in Xanten offers anyone interested the opportunity to find out about the current plans for the project at an early stage, before the planning approval process begins in autumn 2026.

“It is important to us to inform local people about our plans at an early stage and in a transparent manner. The public consultation event offers the opportunity to take questions, discuss feedback from the region and explain the next steps in a clear and understandable way,” says project manager Maik Bonholt.

The public consultation event will take place on 7 July from 4 pm to 8 pm in Xanten.
• Address: Schützenhaus Xanten – Fürstenberg 9, 46509 Xanten No registration is required. Visitors are welcome to drop in at any time during the event; there will be no separate presentation at the start.

The project is currently in the preparatory phase for the planning approval process, which is due to begin in autumn 2026. The dialogue event will focus on the planned pipeline route, the next steps in the process and information on the subsequent construction work. Thyssengas attaches great importance to involving local people at an early stage and in a transparent manner. At the public consultation event, technical experts from Thyssengas will be available at various information stands for one-to-one discussions.

About the project
The approximately ten-kilometre-long Uedemerbruch–Xanten hydrogen pipeline system forms part of the emerging core hydrogen network and is therefore a key component in the roll-out of hydrogen infrastructure in the Lower Rhine region. It connects the hydrogen transport corridor from the Netherlands with the Thyssengas pipelines heading towards the Ruhr region. This creates sustainable supply prospects for small and medium-sized enterprises and industry in the region. The Uedemerbruch–Xanten H₂ pipeline system comprises two core network projects: The approximately seven-kilometre stretch of pipeline between Uedemerbruch and Wardt will be realised by converting currently decommissioned oil pipelines. For the approximately three-kilometre section between Wardt and Xanten, the construction of a new pipeline is planned. Find out more about the project at: h2-uedemerbruch-xanten.de
