Thyssengas is carrying out pipework in Voerde-Spellen – speed limit reduction on Mehrstraße

From Monday 17 August 2026, the transmission system operator Thyssengas will begin pipeline construction work in Voerde-Spellen. For the duration of the works, the speed limit on Mehrstraße, near the junction with Boltaystraße, will be reduced to 30 km/h. In addition, construction traffic will result in increased crossings of the cycle path in this area. The works will last around four months and are due to be completed by the end of the year.

The works form part of the conversion of the gas pipeline between Xanten and Möllen (Voerde) to hydrogen. From the end of 2028, this pipeline will transport hydrogen to consumption centres along the Rhine and Ruhr as part of the H2 core network.

The planning and implementation of the project are being carried out in close consultation with representatives of the town of Voerde and the relevant authorities. Thyssengas asks for your understanding regarding any inconvenience caused.
