The full road closure runs between ‘Widayweg’ and the junction with ‘Am Bahnhof’ over a distance of approximately 70 metres. Residents and emergency vehicles will be able to access properties in the area described throughout the duration of the works. Diversion routes will be put in place and signposted.
One-way traffic system from Monday, 28 September 2026
From Monday, 28 September 2026, Thyssengas will carry out further pipeline construction work as the project progresses. The works will cover a length of approximately 150 metres and will take place in the area between house number 14 and west of the railway tracks. The northern lane (towards Arnsberg) will be operated as a one-way street. Traffic travelling from Arnsberg towards Freienohl will be diverted via the existing diversion route along Widayweg and Kirchstraße. All properties will remain accessible by car and on foot for the entire duration of the works. The works will last for approximately five weeks in total and, according to current plans, are due to be completed by the end of October 2026.
The planning and implementation of the works are being carried out in close consultation with representatives of the City of Arnsberg and Straßen.NRW. Thyssengas asks for your understanding regarding the resulting disruption. The works described are part of the Ruhr Valley Pipeline construction project.
About the Ruhrtalleitung project
Due to increased capacity requirements, Thyssengas GmbH has been expanding its gas transmission system in the Wickede / Arnsberg / Meschede region – known as the Ruhrtal pipeline – since 2018. The existing pipeline system is being upgraded in several construction phases, thereby increasing its transport capacity. The Ruhr Valley Pipeline supplies gas to the downstream networks of local municipal utilities as well as to numerous large-scale consumers such as industrial plants and power stations. Completion of the entire project is scheduled for 2027.
