Thyssengas is carrying out flaring operations in Würselen

The transmission system operator Thyssengas is carrying out pipeline construction work on a natural gas pipeline in Würselen. As part of this work, it will be necessary to relieve pressure and degas the pipeline at short notice. As Thyssengas has set itself the aim of reducing the methane emissions associated with such measures as far as technically possible, a large proportion of the gas in the pipeline has already been vented via downstream networks.

On Friday, 3 July 2026, the remaining quantity will be flared off using a mobile flare unit. This may result in increased noise levels and a visible flame on that day. The flare system is located in a field on Duffesheider Weg in Würselen. No road closures are necessary.
