Thyssengas is carrying out flaring operations in Werne

The transmission system operator Thyssengas is carrying out work on a natural gas pipeline in Werne. As part of this work, it will be necessary to relieve pressure and degas the pipeline at short notice. As Thyssengas has set itself the aim of reducing the methane emissions associated with such measures as far as is technically possible, a large proportion of the gas in the pipeline has already been vented via downstream networks.

On 7 September 2026, the remaining quantity will be vented via a mobile flare system. This may result in increased noise levels and a visible flame on that day. The flare plant is situated on a fenced-off site on Alte-Bockumer Straße in Werne. No road closures are necessary.
