Thyssengas is carrying out flaring operations in Rheinberg

The transmission system operator Thyssengas is carrying out pipeline construction work on a natural gas pipeline in Rheinberg. As part of this work, it will be necessary to relieve pressure and degas the pipeline at short notice. As Thyssengas has set itself the aim of reducing the methane emissions associated with such measures as far as is technically possible, a large proportion of the gas in the pipeline has already been vented via downstream networks .

During the week beginning 14 September 2026, the remaining quantity will be off-gassed on several days between Monday and Friday using a mobile flare system. This may result in increased noise levels and a visible flame on those days. The flaring unit is located on a fenced-off site on Laerstraße in Rheinberg. Road closures are not necessary.
