Thyssengas is carrying out flaring operations in Rheinberg

The transmission system operator Thyssengas is carrying out pipeline construction work on a natural gas pipeline in Rheinberg. In connection with this work, it will be necessary to depressurise and degas the pipeline at short notice. As Thyssengas has set itself the goal of reducing the methane emissions associated with such measures as far as technically possible, a large proportion of the gas in the pipeline has already been vented via downstream networks.

On Thursday 21 May 2026 and, if necessary, Friday 22 May 2026, the remaining quantity will be flared off using a mobile flare system. This may result in increased noise levels and a visible flame on that day. The flare system is located on a fenced-off site on Laerstraße in Rheinberg. Road closures are not necessary.
