The transmission system operator Thyssengas is carrying out pipeline construction work on ‘Talweg’ in Meschede – the road will be completely closed on 11 and 12 May 2026

Since Monday, 13 April 2026, the transmission system operator Thyssengas has been carrying out pipeline construction work on Talweg (house numbers 2–8) in Meschede-Freienohl. For the duration of the connection works, which will take place on Monday 11 May 2026 and Tuesday 12 May 2026, the above-mentioned section will be fully closed over a length of approximately 50 metres. A diversion route will be set up and signposted. Following this, the current half-width road closure will be reinstated for the remaining works. According to current plans, the works will be completed by the end of May 2026.

The planning and implementation of the project are being carried out in close consultation with representatives of the district and university town of Meschede. The project described is part of the Ruhrtalleitung construction project.

About the Ruhrtalleitung project
Due to increased capacity requirements, Thyssengas GmbH has been expanding its gas transmission system in the Wickede / Arnsberg / Meschede region – the so-called Ruhrtalleitung – since 2018. The existing pipeline system is being renewed in several construction phases, thereby increasing transport capacity. The Ruhrtalleitung supplies gas to the downstream networks of the local municipal utilities as well as numerous large-scale consumers such as industrial plants and power stations. Completion of the entire project is scheduled for 2027.
