Voerde-Walsum hydrogen pipeline: planning approval process launched

Planning for the new hydrogen pipeline in the Lower Rhine region has taken a significant step forward: the planning approval process for the H2 pipeline from Voerde to Duisburg-Walsum has officially begun. In December, Thyssengas submitted the application documents to the relevant district government in Düsseldorf. The application documents will be available for public inspection from 16 January 2026 to 16 February 2026.

The documents are available via the following link:

Thyssengas is currently planning the construction of a new hydrogen pipeline approximately 8.4 kilometres long, running from Voerde via Dinslaken to Duisburg-Walsum. The pipeline forms part of the core hydrogen network and is scheduled to come into operation at the end of 2027. The aim is to establish a hydrogen supply infrastructure for the region.
