Voerde-Walsum H2 pipeline: planning approval process initiated

Planning for the new hydrogen pipeline in the Lower Rhine region has taken an important step forward: the planning approval process for the H2 pipeline from Voerde to Duisburg-Walsum has officially begun. In December, Thyssengas submitted the application documents to the responsible district government in Düsseldorf. The application documents will be available for public inspection from 16 January 2026 to 16 February 2026.

The documents are available at the following link:

Thyssengas is currently planning the construction of a new hydrogen pipeline approximately 8.4 kilometres long from Voerde via Dinslaken to Duisburg-Walsum. The pipeline is part of the hydrogen core network and is scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2027. The aim is to create a hydrogen supply perspective for the region.
