Dr Stefanie Kesting starts as Chairwoman of the Management Board of Thyssengas

Dr Stefanie Kesting has been the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Thyssengas GmbH since 1 January 2026. She succeeds Dr Thomas Gößmann, who is retiring from the company at the end of February 2026 after around nine years at the helm. The change had already been announced in autumn 2025.

Thyssengas is facing the biggest turning point in the company's history to date: In addition to natural gas, hydrogen and other green gases will increasingly flow through the transmission network in the future. In doing so, the transmission system operator wants to lay the foundations for a new energy market. In this decisive phase, 49-year-old energy manager Dr Stefanie Kesting is taking over the management of the company.

"The coming years will determine whether we succeed in the transformation, but also in creating a new type of energy supply resilience. As a transmission system operator, we have a special responsibility in this regard: we are creating the gas infrastructure that industry, SMEs and regions need for their path to a secure and climate-neutral future. At the same time, we are contributing our experience and our regional network, as well as our close ties to our western neighbours, to actively help shape this change," said Kesting. "The development of the hydrogen core network is an important building block for this, but it is only part of the picture. We need to think holistically: regionally, across sectors and always with a view to what our customers and partners need locally for a secure energy supply and for their individual decarbonisation path. I am delighted to be driving this process forward together with the strong team at Thyssengas."

Dr Stefanie Kesting has many years of management experience in the energy industry - including at international energy companies such as DNV, E.ON and Uniper and most recently at plant manufacturer Neuman & Esser, where she was responsible for the Energy Project Solutions business area as Managing Director. She has specialised in renewable gases, hydrogen and CO2 technologies for many years. In addition, she was and is a member of several international supervisory bodies in the energy and industrial sectors.

With the arrival of Dr Stefanie Kesting, the management of Thyssengas will temporarily consist of:

  • Dr Stefanie Kesting, Chairwoman of the Management Board
  • Dr Thomas Becker, Commercial Managing Director
  • Dr Thomas Gößmann, Member of the Management Board

From 1 March 2026, Dr Stefanie Kesting (CEO) and Dr Thomas Becker (CFO) will form the Management Board.
